In this multiple light source set up, I placed my main light on the side of the camera. The overall effect of the lights seems very uniform, and a little boring. Hence I thought the upset emotion to be appropriate for the light set up.
In this multiple light source set up, I placed my main light on the side opposite to the camera. I chose the happy emotion here coz of the glow the lights put on the face, specially on the cheekbones raised to a height coz of the smile.
Profile: Light on background only
For this shot all profiles look similar irrelevant to the emotion.
Profile: Light on other side of the face
Dark pictures make me relate them to dark emotions, hence upset.
Profile: Light in front of face
The whole face is lit with a slight gradation, that really defines the curve of the puffed happy cheeks, the contours of the raised cheek bone, and the curve of the lips. Hence the happy smiling emotion looks best in this light set up.
Profile: Light close to camera
The dark shade on the cheekbone makes the eyes and face look more upset, thus enhancing the emotion.
3/4 pose: Broad Lighting
This lighting enhances the bliss emotion, coz it seems like someone is meditating in a dark room, but there is light coming from a certain direction or window, that makes it eel like the person is being 'enlightened'.
3/4 pose: butterfly lighting
This lighting makes the face look more beautiful, hence the smile emotion
3/4 pose: Short lighting
The lighting creates the illusion of a popping vein on the forehead, thus enhancing the upset emotion.
Light directly o the side of the face, 90 degrees
In this lighting setup, the smile is enhanced most, as the face looks almost radiant. The shadow on the eye makes it look smaller, the cheekbone seems bigger and puffier, like eyes crinkling due to raised cheeks while smiling.
Light 45 degrees to the side, 45 degrees above
The illusion of the popping vein appears again, hence I feel this light setup enhances the upset emotion.
Light below camera level
It feels like someone is meditating in a dark room, and a candle on the floor is lighting the face. The bliss emotion is most enhanced in this light set up.
Light at camera level
This brings about a bland lighting effect, and the eyes look more sunken too, enhancing the upset, dull emotion.
Light slightly above camera
The darkness on the lower sides of the face highlights the slight smile of the blissful state.
Light high above camera
The shadows cast are so deep, this lighting didn't really suite any of the three emotions I had. My upset/disturbed face almost looks cruel, angry and murderous in this setup.
